Hofn and On Assignment projects

**This blog was written during the group's stay in Hofn. The expedition leaders were not able to send it until now.**

Greetings! Since we last wrote, we have been busy climbing the largest glaciers in the world and having an amazing time!

Here in Hofn, the students have made much progress on their On Assignment projects. The Climate and Geology Crew has been busy logging lots of GPS (Global Positioning System) photos and researching other cool scientific things. The two Documentary Film teams are working with a lot of footage which will likely work its way into 3 or 4 complete films. About half of the students in the Documentary Film crew have already made short films about our interesting Icelandic bus driver, Gummi. According to our students, Gummi is very cool. He knows about interesting places such as a gorgeous waterfall we explored today. Several of us decided to jump into its cold waters (it was worth it!).

Hofn is an interesting and friendly town. The locals are very nice, especially the youth. And luckily for us, they like to be interviewed on camera! We met a few girls playing soccer and others walking a bunny on a leash. Its name was Colproon (or something that we cannot spell or pronounce correctly).

Sadly, the National Geographic expert, Ford Cochran, will be leaving us tomorrow. We have very much enjoyed his company. He is headed back to the National Geographic headquarters to work on the website… although we think it is a nice website, it definitely does not compare to Iceland!

Early tomorrow morning we board a bus en route to Myvatn where we will ride Icelandic horses, interview local fishermen, and more.

We miss you all, but we like Iceland a lot. It is AMAZING!
